SEPAM- 31 : Interaction Between Politics and Business: Recent Business History of Turkey in the Globalization Period

Ümit Özlale has been working as a professor and the department head in Özyeğin University, Department of Economics since 2013.
After getting his Ph.D. in Economics from Boston College in 2001, he started his academic career in Bilkent University as an assistant professor. He continued his research in TOBB University of Economics and Technology, where he became full professor in 2011. During that time, he also worked in TEPAV, a think tank located in Ankara, where he served as the director of Training and Research Institute of Public Policy.
Since 2015, he also has been working as the founding partner of ÜBER Consulting, which provides economic consultancy for various organizations as well as participates in projects with The World Bank and The Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology in several areas including regional investment climate assessment and productivity.
Ümit Özlale’s main research fields are applied macroeconomics, monetary policy and fiscal policy. In addition to working as an academic advisor for the Central Bank of Republic of Turkey for various years, he also served as a senior key expert in various World Bank projects, the Ministry of Finance and as an executive committee member of European Association of Development Research Institutes (EADI).
In 2012, Professor Özlale has been awarded with “The Young Investigator Award” by TÜBİAK, which has been given to outstanding academicians under 40 years old.
