On the 2nd and 3rd of March, 2019, a workshop titled, “The Role and Cooperation of Aircrew Health Officers in Civil Aviation Safety Management,” was carried out with the support of Antalya Bilim University Praxis Aviation and Space Programs, Directorate General of Civil Aviation within the body of Elba Aviation Institute and esteemed individuals in the sector.
Among those who attended the opening ceremony were the Rector of Antalya Bilim University, Prof. Dr. Ismail Yüksek, the Rector of the University of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Cevdet Erdöl, General Director of Civil Aviation, Bahri Kesici, Council Chairman, Prof. Dr. Ferşat Kolbakır, Council Members and Chairmen of Work Groups, Prof. Dr. Hasan Fehmi Töre, Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Çetingüç, Dr. Lecturer Ü. Oya Bozkurt, Dr. Kadir Eken, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ender Gerede, Attending Physician, Ali Saib Engin and General Director of Corendon Airways Yıldıray Karaer, Safety and Health Managers of Sunexpress and Pegasus Airways and esteemed aerospace physicians, aircrew physicians and aviation psychologists.
The first workshop with such a high number of participants
Civil Aviation Safety Management and Aircrew Health Officers came together with such a high number of participants for the first time, and they addressed the legislation that is being developed. The workshop hosted fieldworkers and physicians who have significant experience in the field and who offer both democratic and academic points of view. In addition, the role and significance of aerospace physicians, aircrew physicians and aviation psychologists were discussed. During the workshop, where the duties, employment and trainings of these individuals were brought to the table, it was emphasized that it is very important to involve them in all areas of aviation with the “critical mission” code, that their employment should be systemized and made compulsory, and that their qualifications should be increased within the scope of safety management regulations.
