Doctorate

Süleyman Demirel University

Master's

İzmir Institute of Technology

Bachelor's

Pamukkale University

Özgün Akdegirmen is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering – Water Resources Engineering at Süleyman Demirel University. He holds a master's degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Water Resources and Hydromechanics Engineering, from İzmir Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Pamukkale University.

Since 2015, he has been serving as a Research Assistant at Antalya Bilim University. His academic work focuses on water resources management, with experience in conceptual hydrological modeling, flood analysis, water quality assessment, and sediment transport. His research involves the effective analysis of complex datasets and the development of innovative solutions to water resources management challenges.

Akdegirmen’s studies primarily concentrate on water quality modeling, drought assessment, the impacts of urbanization on water systems, and diffuse pollution loads. He integrates Geographic Information Systems with various hydrological concept models to contribute to the sustainable management of water resources.

He has published six articles in international peer-reviewed journals and actively participates in scientific conferences. In 2022, he secured second place in the jury presentation awards at the 7th  YWP Benelux Conference  organized by the International Water Association (IWA) with his presentation titled "Estimation of Diffuse Pollution Loads in a Small Mediterranean Watershed using GIS and MapShed Model."

Beyond his academic research, he has played an active role in projects supported by the Scientific and  Technological Research Council of Turkey(TÜBİTAK). These projects include the deterministic modeling of river water quality, evaluation and management of water quality indices using statistical analyses, and the investigation of groundwater infiltration rates in the Alaşehir Basin  with the development of a GIS-based infiltration map.
