Seda SERHATLIOĞLU

Seda Serhatlıoğlu was born in Antalya in 1989. She completed her primary and secondary education in Elmalı, Antalya. In 2011, she graduated as the top student from the Midwifery Department at Marmara University’s Zeynep Kamil School of Health in Istanbul. That same year, she began working as a midwife at Çukurbağ Health House under the Kaş Community Health Center in Antalya. In 2013, she joined Karabük University’s School of Health as a Research Assistant and completed her Master’s degree in the same university’s Department of Midwifery in 2015, focusing her thesis on "birth satisfaction." In 2017, she began her PhD program at Istanbul-Cerrahpaşa University’s Department of Midwifery. In 2019, she continued her career as a Lecturer in the Midwifery Department at Karabük University. In 2021, she completed her PhD with a randomized controlled trial investigating the effect of a beeswax- based barrier in preventing nipple cracks, earning her the title of ‘Doctor’ in the field. Following her doctoral studies, she was accepted as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Copenhagen (The Interdisciplinary Research Unit of Women’s, Children’s, and Families’ Health) and relocated to Denmark, where she served as a Postdoc and Visiting Researcher. In 2022, she joined Antalya Bilim University’s Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Midwifery, as an Assistant Professor and, as of 2024, has returned to Turkey to continue her work full-time. In addition to her academic pursuits, she enjoys walking, cycling, and engaging with poetry (reciting and writing). She is an active member of the Turkish Midwives Association, the Anatolian Midwives Association, and the Temas Breastfeeding and Breast Milk Volunteers Association. Her professional interests include birth satisfaction, breastfeeding and breastfeeding issues, postpartum depression, and psychological well-being.
