The main objectives of this course are to:1. Introduce students to fundamental statistical concepts and terminology.2. Develop students' ability to organize, summarize, and visualize data.3. Explain the principles of probability and statistical inference.4. Enable students to select appropriate statistical methods for social science research.5. Develop students' ability to interpret statistical results correctly.6. Introduce students to statistical software for data analysis.7. Enable students to analyze and interpret real-world social science datasets.8. Develop students' critical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills.

This course introduces the fundamental concepts and methods of statistics with particular emphasis on their applications in the social sciences. Students learn how to collect, organize, summarize, analyze, and interpret quantitative data. The course covers descriptive statistics, probability concepts, sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing, correlation, regression, and selected non-parametric methods. Emphasis is placed on practical interpretation of statistical results rather than mathematical derivations. Students are also introduced to statistical software and real-world datasets from social sciences.
