Antalya Bilim University 1ST Design Festival

Between 25-27th of April 2018 Antalya Bilim University 1st Design Festival has been organized by ABU School of Art and Architecture under the coordination of Assistant Professor Dr. Shirin Izadpanah. The main aim of the event was establishing a divers platform for design and creativity and celebrate design festival by participation of students and professionals. Design Festival activities was organized around the theme "Rethink & Rebuild" and aimed to create a path for students to understand their relationship with the environment and improve this relationship by rethinking and rebuilding their surroundings. The event has been enriched with 14 different workshops. It is observed, experiences that students had gained in workshops has evolved their perception about design. The workshops worked towards improving the visual and physical quality of Campus of Antalya Bilim University with quick and simple design solutions. Parallel with academic staff of ABU Faculty of Architecture, instructors from Akdeniz University Faculty of Architecture and professionals from different fields of design has contributed in organizing the workshops.
The 1st ABU Design Fest has hosted one designer on each day. On the first day of the event, successful Turkish Interior Architect Haldun Kilit, delivered a seminar with the title of ‘Innovation in Design’. On the second day, Architect Salih Küçüktuna and Architect Çağlar Biber from the famous architecture firm ‘Pin Architects’ delivered a seminar with the title of ‘Borderless’. And on the final day of the festival, Interior Architect Derin Sarıyer, who is very well known for his furniture design, delivered an interactive speech with the title of ‘Design and Critical Thinking’. Many students from ABU and Akdeniz University showed great interest to the conferences. 
ABU 1st Design Festival sponsored by Bella Yapı, finished with a music performance and certificate ceremony. Kar-Yapı, Alanyalı Ahşap, Jüpiter, Akatek, Sümbüloğlu and Emeksan had supported the event by providing workshops materials.
