Antalya Bilim University Department of Psychology Hosts the PERGEL Project
Antalya Bilim University Department of Psychology, in collaboration with the Döşemealtı Guidance and Research Center (RAM), has launched the Positive Adolescent Development Project (PERGEL) in Antalya.
PERGEL, developed by faculty members of Koç University’s Department of Psychology and supported by TÜBİTAK between 2012 and 2015, was updated in 2023 and has since been implemented more widely across different cities. Following its implementation in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and several other cities, the project has now been launched in Antalya.
The project aims to support the social and emotional development of 5th- and 6th-grade students. The implementation of PERGEL in Antalya was planned as part of the Applied Developmental Psychology course taught by Asst. Prof. Demet KARA, a faculty member of the Department of Psychology.
In this context, students enrolled in the Applied Developmental Psychology course participated in a Training of Trainers program held at Antalya Bilim University Department of Psychology in September. Having completed the training, the students will also carry out the project activities with the participating students.
As of October, PERGEL has begun its fall semester implementation at Döşemealtı Dilek Recep Özer Secondary School.
As the Antalya Bilim University Department of Psychology, we are pleased to take part in the Antalya implementation of this valuable project, which both supports our students’ applied learning experiences and contributes to the social and emotional development of young people.
