Biography

Asst. Prof. Dr. Setenay AK completed her undergraduate degree in Architecture at Istanbul Arel University in 2015 and a second undergraduate degree in Interior Architecture through a double major program at the same university in 2016. She completed her master’s degree in Architecture in 2018, focusing on photovoltaic panel applications on roofs and façades and energy-efficient building design through the integration of mechanical systems into buildings. In 2023, she received her Ph.D. in Architecture from Akdeniz University, where she conducted research on artificial intelligence in architectural design, with a particular focus on energy-efficient building design using neural-fuzzy logic methods.

Dr. AK has been a faculty member at Antalya Bilim University since 2018. In 2023, she spent two months at the Sustainability Office of Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, conducting research on sustainability. As part of this work, she contributed an article addressing sustainability and equality to RUB Chancen=, the magazine of Ruhr University Bochum. Since 2023, Dr. AK has undertaken various academic and administrative responsibilities, including serving as Deputy Director of the Vocational School, a member of the Board of the Graduate School and the School of Civil Aviation, and an Internal Auditor for the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. She currently serves as a Department Chair.

Her primary research interests include energy-efficient building design, sustainable architecture and interior design, photovoltaic systems, artificial intelligence-assisted architectural design, and neural-fuzzy logic methods. She has published academic studies nationally and internationally in these fields. She is also the holder of a patent titled “Pre-Application Sustainable Building System,” registered in 2025.
