WHAT IS THE DOUBLE MAJOR PROGRAM (ÇAP)?
Lets you study a second department at the same time as your own and earn two separate diplomas.
Who can apply?
A minimum GPA of 3.00 (within your own faculty) or 3.25 (a different faculty).
- You must rank in the top 20% of your class. If not, your admission score must be at least as high as that year's cutoff score for the program you're applying to.
- You must have successfully completed all courses required up to that point in your own program.
- Bachelor's students may double major with an associate degree program; associate degree students may not double major with a bachelor's program.
- If the target program is taught in a different language, you must pass the relevant foreign language exam.
When can you apply?
for 4-year programs: the application is available between the start of the 3rd and 5th semester. Applications open at the start of each academic year, on dates announced in the academic calendar. You may apply to up to 3 different double major programs, listing them in order of preference.
To stay in the program: If your GPA drops below 70/100, you get one chance to fall as low as 65 before being removed; a second drop below 70 ends your enrollment in the second program. Skipping courses for two consecutive semesters also results in automatic removal.
Graduation: You can only receive your second diploma after graduating from your home program.
WHAT IS THE MINOR PROGRAM?
Lets you take a limited number of courses from another department and earn a certificate, not a diploma, in that area.
Who can apply? A minimum GPA of 2.75, all required courses up to that point completed successfully, and a foreign language exam if the language of instruction differs.
When can you apply? For 4-year programs, no later than the start of the 6th semester
To stay in the program: At the end of each semester, your home-program GPA must be at least 2.50 and your minor-program GPA at least 2.00.
Certificate: Issued after you graduate from your home program; it does not replace a diploma.
Good to know for both
- You can hold a double major and a minor at the same time, but not more than one of either at once
- You may withdraw at any time, but can't re-enroll in the same program afterward
- No extra tuition for double major courses while you remain enrolled in your home program
