Erasmus

ERASMUS+ STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM
ERASMUS+ is a European Union exchange program that provides the opportunity to study (study mobility) or complete an internship (traineeship mobility) at a higher education institution under a bilateral agreement. Courses completed during the mobility period are recorded on the student's transcript upon the decision of the relevant unit's administrative board.


Eligibility Requirements

  • Being enrolled as a full-time student in an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree program.
  • For study mobility: completion of at least one academic year of formal education (preparatory year excluded); for traineeship mobility: being at least in the second year of study.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.20/4.00 for associate and bachelor's degree programs, and 2.50/4.00 for master's degree programs.
  • A minimum foreign language proficiency of B1 according to the European Language Portfolio, documented through a YDS/YÖKDİL score of 60 or a TOEFL score of 72; in the absence of such documentation, the Erasmus Foreign Language Examination administered by the University must be taken.
  • Double major students may apply only through the program in which they intend to undertake mobility; minor program students may apply only through their home program.
  • Where a student has previously benefited from Erasmus mobility at the same level of study, the relevant deductions are applied to the Erasmus+ Overall Success Score.


Application and Evaluation Process

  1. Applications are submitted electronically through the Kimoerasmus system; GPA information is retrieved automatically by the system.
  2. Students who meet the application requirements are admitted to the Erasmus Foreign Language Examination; this examination is not required for students who document their language proficiency.
  3. The Erasmus+ Overall Success Score is calculated as 50% of the GPA plus 50% of the foreign language examination score; additional points may apply in special circumstances such as disability status or being a child of a martyr or veteran.
  4. The resulting lists of primary and reserve candidates are announced by the Erasmus Coordination Office and on the University website.
  5. Accepted students are required to sign a Learning Agreement (for studies or for traineeship) and a Grant Agreement.
  6. Attendance at the orientation training held prior to mobility is mandatory.
  7. Upon completion of the mobility period, the courses taken are indicated on the transcript with the notation "Erasmus."



Duration and Financial Matters

  • Study mobility may last a minimum of one semester (3 months) and a maximum of one calendar year; traineeship mobility may last a minimum of two months and a maximum of twelve months.
  • Tuition fees owed to the University continue during the mobility period; no additional fee is paid to the host institution.
  • Accommodation, transportation, health insurance, and personal expenses are the student's own responsibility.
  • The program may be undertaken with or without a grant.
  • A minimum course/internship load of 30 ECTS must be carried during the mobility period.
  • Foreign language examination results may be appealed in writing to the Foreign Languages Coordination Office within three business days of their announcement.
