B. Toygar Halistoprak received his B.A. degree in 2008 from Ege University, and his M.A. (2011) and Ph.D. (2016) degrees in International Relations from Bilkent University. While his M.A. thesis focuses on the social construction of civil-military relations in Turkey, his doctoral dissertation investigated the peacebuilding intervention practices in Liberia and Sierra Leone from the World Society perspective of the English School of International Relations. During his doctoral studies, he spent one semester in Stellenbosch University, South Africa as a researcher. In 2019, he was awarded the TÜBİTAK 2219 - Postdoctoral Research Award and worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Halistoprak was awarded the Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2021 and joined to George Washington University, the Elliott School of International Studies as a Fulbright Fellow in 2021. In their research project, funded by TÜBİTAK 1001 program for 36 months, Dr. Halistoprak and his co-author focus on the relationship between foreign policy decision making and political culture. He teaches courses such as “Peace, War and Security”, “Civil-Military Relations”, “African Politics” and “Foreign Policy Analysis” at the ABU POLS Department.
