Süleyman CENGİZCİ

Suleyman was born in Antalya, Turkey, in 1989. He graduated from Antalya Metin–Nuran Cakallikli Anatolian High School, received his bachelor's degree in 2012 from the Department of Mathematics at Nigde Omer Halisdemir University, and his M.Sc. from Nevsehir Haci Bektas Veli University in Applied Mathematics in 2014, along with the courses he took from the Department of Engineering Sciences at Middle East Technical University (METU). In 2014, he was accepted to the doctoral program in Scientific Computing at the Institute of Applied Mathematics (IAM), METU. In the same year, he received the pedagogical formation certificate for teaching high school mathematics from Akdeniz University. He received his Ph.D. in 2022 with the thesis entitled "Stabilized Finite Element Simulations of Multispecies Hypersonic Flows in Thermochemical Nonequilibrium." Between March and September 2022, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rice University. Here, he studied advanced flow simulations using Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) methods. Following that, in early 2023, he was awarded the TUBITAK-2219 International Research Fellowship grant to conduct his second postdoctoral research at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. Within this project, he will be researching stabilized finite element solutions of convection-dominated multicomponent flow phenomena.

His research interests include numerical and asymptotic approaches that employ the tools of computational mathematics and computational mechanics, particularly computational fluid dynamics (CFD), which can be used to simulate various real-world phenomena arising in many different scientific disciplines and industries as well.

Between 2014 and 2017, Suleyman worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Economics at Antalya Bilim University (ABU). He served as a Lecturer in the departments of Computer Programming and Business Administration at ABU between 2017 and 2023. He has been working as an Assistant Professor in the same departments at ABU September 2023.
