Our university hosted an event focusing on sustainable development and environmental awareness. Organized in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports, Culture, and Arts and the Healthy Environment Student Club, the seminar titled “Nature–Human Relations in Socioeconomic Development” was held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Conference Hall. The event aimed to raise social awareness by emphasizing the necessity of a development approach aligned with nature.
The event featured renowned artist and environmental scientist Ediz Hun, known for his environmental advocacy, academic background, and distinguished artistic career. Addressing students and faculty members, Mr. Hun shared valuable insights on human–nature relations, sustainable lifestyles, ecological balance, climate change, and individual responsibility, highlighting that environmental protection is no longer a matter of choice but a global necessity.
The opening address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Aida Şahmur, who emphasized the importance of adopting an integrated environmental perspective in development policies.
The event was attended by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Semih Ekercin; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Emine Şen Tunç and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Aktan; Secretary General Çağatay Aslan; as well as academic and administrative staff and a large number of students. Throughout the program, the significance of shared values rooted in environmental awareness was underlined.
The well-attended event concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque and flowers to Ediz Hun by the university administration. This meaningful gathering left a lasting impression on the participants and contributed significantly to raising awareness of environmental sustainability.
