New Horizons in Education: Workshop on Innovative Teaching Techniques in Political Science and International Relations

A workshop titled "Innovative Teaching Techniques in Political Science and International Relations" was held in Bodrum from November 7-10, organized by Bodrum Institute, under the coordination of Dr. Burak Toygar Halistoprak, Assistant Professor at Antalya Bilim University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations, and supported by the TÜBİTAK 2237/A program.

The workshop explored the potential impacts of artificial intelligence (AI), digital technologies, and simulation-based learning techniques on education. Participants emphasized that while AI offers speed and accessibility for students, the importance of preserving the human element in education is paramount. The consensus was that AI should play a supportive, not central, role in the educational process.

In addition, simulation-based learning methods were highlighted as tools to enhance students' ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, with the potential to boost student motivation. Discussions also addressed the disparities between central and peripheral universities in education, as well as ethical responsibilities in the use of technology.

In conclusion, the workshop underscored that technological transformation in education requires not only instrumental adaptation but also ethical responsibility. The use of AI in education should align with ethical guidelines to maintain the integrity of the teaching process.
