The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to educate engineers who have strong basic engineering knowledge in design, control, robotics, mechanics, manufacturing, energy (renewable and nuclear) and defense technologies, who can quickly solve engineering problems by identifying them thanks to their mastery of advanced technology and research ability, who can use scientific approaches and who can produce rational solutions not only locally but also globally by considering economy, efficiency, environment, social and ethical dimensions in their studies.
The vision of the Department of Mechanical Engineering is to be a globally recognized department, a pioneer in research and education, offering education at universal standards and aiming to train engineers who will contribute to technology, to develop creative, sustainable and innovative solutions to global engineering problems, to train students as leading engineers by transferring theory to practice in a wide range of sectors.
In this direction, the primary goal is to train engineers who have advanced technical knowledge, are prone to interdisciplinary studies, continuously improve themselves and adapt quickly to modern technologies. It is aimed to provide world-class knowledge and experience in basic areas such as materials science, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, design and automation for sectors such as manufacturing, energy, automotive, defense and biomedical sectors, to structure education and research activities in accordance with the needs of society and developing engineering requirements, and to transform engineering knowledge into useful projects for society and industry.
