• Generally speaking, electrical and electronics engineering is a professional branch that concerns the production and distribution of electrical energy, the design and development of electronics systems, the design and development of satellite antennae systems, and the transmission and processing of signals (audio, visual, and video).


  • Electrical and electronics engineering is a wide field that encompasses a variety of different professions and scientific disciplines. Antalya Bilim University's Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EE) has designed its curriculum with the goal of endowing its graduates with both a solid grounding in fundamentals and a deep knowledge in at least one specialized field of EE.
  • Freshmen (First Year): During the first year in the program, students take foundational and pre-requisite classes in mathematics, physics, and programming. Students also take classes in basic chemistry and biology.
  • Sophomores (Second Year): During the second year, students take basic courses in EE. These courses include the core knowledge required for all EE fields. Classes in advanced mathematics can be taken as electives.
  • Juniors (Third Year): The goal of core and elective classes offered in the third year is to give students basic competence in the various EE fields. It is expected that students will choose the EE fields that they would like to specialize in by the end of this year.
  • Seniors (Fourth Year): The goal of the fourth year education is for students to emerge as experts in their specialized field of study. The selections available are: telecommunications and signals administration, photonics and electromagnetism, and micro systems.
  • Technical coursework includes laboratory and project work appropriate to the selected specialty. Additional courses included classes designed to advance the level of students' English-language skills and six courses to be taken as electives.


  • Since mathematics and physics are strongly emphasized in this department, students interested in these two disciplines may find that the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a good match. Alongside the experimental and theoretical, an affinity for advanced physics, being good with ones hands, and analytical and abstract thinking will be very helpful in managing the coursework of an education in EE. As in all engineering disciplines, an enthusiasm and ability to solve problems will be necessary traits for successful EE candidates to possess.


  • Graduates of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering can find jobs in a wide verity of fields ranging from hardware to software. Graduates can work in the public and private sectors and in the defense industry. Public sector employment opportunities include the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources; the Ministry of Science, Energy, and Technology; the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK); and other prestigious institutions.
  • The private sector offers even more variety. Big corporations such as telecommunications firms and electronic goods manufacturers employee large numbers of electrical and electronics engineers. Along with large corporations, companies established in university techno-cities hire electrical and electronics engineers to advance research and development.
  • In addition to the public and private sectors, groups that aim to advance the defense industry hire hundreds of the top electrical and electronics engineering graduates, including units of the TÜBİTAK (the Scientific and Research Council of Turkey) group such as MAM Energy Institute, SAGE, UZAY and Aselsan, Havelsan, Roketsan, TAI, etc. Beyond opportunities in Turkey, many electrical and electronics engineers are hired by telecommunications and microelectronics firms throughout the world, with Europe and the USA taking the lead in hiring.
  • While post-Bachelor's studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering increase employment possibilities in all of the above sectors, continuing on to a doctorate in this field provides a research environment that is not available in the business world. Electrical and Electronics Engineers who successfully complete Master's and Ph.Ds can find very rewarding opportunities in their fields both at home and abroad.

  •   First, ABU has a flexible education policy. Many elective courses are available to you in the third and fourth years of the program. You may use your electives the way you want, and you can decide which branch of Electrical and Electronics Engineering you would like to specialize in. Successful students may leverage our flexible policy to benefit from our double-major and minor programs, and thus graduate in four years while having earned diplomas in two majors.
  • Some of the minors that Electrical and Electronics Engineering students have undertaken in our school have been computer engineering, physics, mathematics and economics. In addition to becoming a good electrical and electronics engineer, you can also become an economist, a computer engineer, or an ABU graduate who knows 3-4 languages. Our studious and determined students can advance their careers the way they wish in a flexible and supportive environment.
  • Another advantage of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at ABU is its faculty. All of our professors have graduated with doctorates from respected international universities and have extensive work experience abroad. With an average age of under 35, our faculty members have created a dynamic department that is actively engaged in ongoing research projects, some of which are funded buy organizations such as the European Union, TUBİTAK, the Humboldt Foundation, and the Western Mediterranean Development Agency. Every year, the department accepts a select group of students, all of whom are awarded full scholarships, and classes are kept small, typically with 20-30 students. In addition, academically successful students have the chance to conduct research with their professors. This gives students experience in how to conduct research according to international standards and how to properly report the results. At present, three students who benefited from this opportunity have had articles published in internationally respected journals. These opportunities will be especially helpful to students who wish to pursue academic careers, as they will increase their chances of being admitted to the best universities in the world. Students who prefer to enter the marketplace will graduate with the skill set required to quickly find a place in the work world.
  •   Finally, the high number of international students in the department will afford students the possibility of making friends with other students from a variety of different cultures. Along with expanding their knowledge of foreign languages, students will learn to work and get along in different cultural environments.
