ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION

Students are obliged to attend classes, laboratories and practices in line with the principles determined by the relevant faculties, colleges or vocational schools, and to attend all kinds of exams and other studies deemed appropriate by the instructors during the semester. Students' success in a course; It is determined according to the results of homework, projects, workshops, field studies, applications, laboratories, seminars, quizzes, midterm exams and similar mid-term studies and final exam, whose contribution to the success grade is announced by the relevant instructors at the beginning of each semester.

Semester/in-year evaluation tools for a course consist of midterm exams, homework, projects, laboratories, practice and other studies. Except for the internship, term project, graduation project, graduation thesis, seminar course and similar courses, at least one midterm exam is required for a course in the semester/year evaluation. Each semester/year evaluation tool (midterm exam, homework, project, laboratory, practice and other studies) is graded over 100 points. No success evaluation method is used in the grading of these evaluation tools and no letter grade is given. The letter passing grade is performed after all assessment tools, including the semester/end exam, are graded. The contribution rates (weights) of the midterm exam, homework, application and other studies that students are responsible for to the success grade are specified in the syllabus. These rates are taken as a basis in the evaluation of the relevant course. The total contribution of the midterm exam(s) determined in the semester/year evaluation to the success grade is at least 20%. The semester/end exam is graded over 100 points. The contribution of the semester/end exam to the success grade is 60% and the student has to get at least 50 out of 100 from this exam.

The academic proficiency of the students is determined by calculating their grade point averages at the end of each semester. The semester grade point average is calculated by dividing the total ECTS credits obtained by the student from all the courses taken in that semester by the total ECTS credits of the courses taken. The overall grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the total ECTS credits obtained by the student from the courses enrolled in all semesters by the sum of the ECTS credits of all the courses taken. In case the student has repeated courses, the latest grade taken from those courses is included in the GPA instead of the previous grades, but all grades of the student are shown on the transcript. Both the semester and GPA are calculated as two digits after the decimal point; The corresponding note is rounded up when the third decimal point is 5 or more, and down when it is 4 or less. GPA is recalculated at the end of the summer term, taking into account the grades students receive from the courses they registered for during the summer term.

As of the end of the second semester, students with a GPA of 2.00 and above are successful; Students below 1.99 are considered academically unsatisfactory. During semester course registrations, all courses for which a student has not received a letter grade in previous semesters are considered new courses for that student. Senate may decide that some courses will not be accepted as new courses.
