On December 10, 2025, civil engineering students from Antalya Bilim University (ABU), accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ali Danandeh Mehr, visited the Meteorology 4th Regional Directorate in Antalya under the auspices of the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM).
During the visit, students gained firsthand insight into the operational activities of MGM and explored both traditional and cutting-edge methods for monitoring, processing, and forecasting climatic variables. They learned about the use of in-situ meteorological stations, weather radars, and satellite systems in delivering accurate and timely weather information.
Turkey currently operates more than 2,000 active automatic and manual meteorological stations nationwide. The Antalya Regional Directorate stands out as one of the best-equipped facilities in the country, fully compliant with World Meteorological Organization (WMO) standards and equipped with state-of-the-art observation technologies.
Antalya Bilim University extends its sincere gratitude to the management and technical staff of the 4th Regional Directorate of Meteorology for their warm hospitality and for organizing this highly valuable scientific and educational visit.
