Students are required to attend classes, laboratories and practices in accordance with the principles determined by the Faculty of Health Sciences, and to participate in all kinds of exams and other studies deemed appropriate by the teaching staff during the semester.
Students' success in a course is determined by the results of homework, projects, workshops, fieldwork, practical work, laboratory work, seminars, quizzes, midterm exams and similar mid-term studies and final exams, the contribution of which to the success grade is announced by the relevant instructors at the beginning of each semester.
The mid-term/interannual assessment tools for a course consist of mid-term exams, assignments, projects, laboratories, practical applications and other studies. Except for internships, term projects, graduation projects, graduation thesis and seminar courses and similar courses, at least one mid-term exam is mandatory for a course. Each mid-term/interannual assessment tool (mid-term exam, assignment, project, laboratory, practical applications and other studies) is graded out of 100 points. No success evaluation method is used in the grading of these assessment tools and no letter success grade is given. The letter success grade is given after all assessment tools, including the mid-term/end-of-year exam, are graded. The contribution rates (weights) of the mid-term exams, assignments, practical applications and other studies that students are responsible for to the success grade are specified in the course syllabus. These rates are taken as the basis in the evaluation of the relevant course. The total contribution of the mid-term exam(s) determined in the mid-term/end-of-year assessment to the success grade is at least 20%. The mid-term/end-of-year exam is graded out of 100 points. The contribution of the midterm/end-of-year exam to the success grade is 60% and the student must get at least 50 out of 100 from this exam.
Students’ academic qualifications are determined by calculating their grade point averages at the end of each semester. The semester grade point average is calculated by dividing the student’s total ECTS credits from all courses taken that semester by the total ECTS credits of the courses taken. The general grade point average (GPA) is calculated by dividing the student’s total ECTS credits from courses registered for in all semesters by the total ECTS credits of all courses taken. If the student repeats a course, the most recent grade received from that course is included in the general grade point average instead of the previous grades, but all grades of the student are shown on the transcript. Both the semester and general grade point averages are calculated to two digits after the decimal point; when the relevant grade is 5 or more, it is rounded up, and when it is 4 or less, it is rounded down. At the end of the summer term, the GPA is recalculated by taking into account the grades received from the courses registered for in the summer term.
For our faculty, the Exam and Success grade of a course is based on the Direct Conversion System and the weight given in Table 1.
