1- What are the job opportunities?
You will have the opportunity to find a job in many accommodation companies, especially Rixos hotels. In addition, there are many job opportunities such as airline businesses, tour operators, travel agencies, food and beverage businesses, positions under the relevant ministry, marina businesses and academicians in universities. In this context, Turkish tourism is developing and thousands of new job opportunities are created every year.
2- Is a foreign language required for admission to the Faculty of Tourism?
Our university provides education in English. Students who do not speak English can continue their 4-year education in English if they successfully complete 1 year of preparatory education.
3- Do I have the opportunity to learn a second foreign language?
Foreign language is one of the most important issues that our faculty emphasizes. There is a second foreign language course in our education program; courses such as Russian, German, Spanish, Chinese, Turkish Sign Language are offered among the options. It is among our goals for our students to graduate with a good command of English and a second foreign language in addition to their mother tongue.
4- How does a person graduating from the Faculty of Tourism advance in business life?
Professional business life is a long and arduous path in the tourism sector, as in every type of business. However, anyone who has work discipline, loves and respects their job, is honest and hardworking will definitely be rewarded. Making good use of job opportunities and opportunities, improving yourself and showing perseverance and patience by doing the necessary work in line with the needs will bring success. In hotels, there are starting positions, unit chief, assistant manager, unit manager, assistant general manager and general manager positions. Each hotel has a wide variety of units that you can specialize in. You can specialize in areas such as food and beverage, front office, housekeeping, sales and marketing, human resources, accounting. But since hotel management is a whole, having knowledge in all areas is the key to success.
The most important feature that distinguishes our University and Faculty from others is that you will have a 4-year education integrated with the sector. In addition, in the last semester of the 4th year, you will have the opportunity to work with a manager three days a week with the “Shadow Manager” program and develop your leadership competencies. This will help you gain experience in the sector before you graduate and graduate as a very knowledgeable and experienced individual. Compulsory vocational trainings in two summer semesters will give you the opportunity to work in entry positions and get to know the field. The position you will start in may vary according to your skills, knowledge and experience.
5- What is the Shadow Manager program?
Students who are eligible to participate in the “management shadowing” (shadow manager) program, in which we combine the skills and experiences of tourism faculty students during their education and internship periods, come to the campus 3 days a week in the spring semester of the 4th grade and work as a shadow of a manager in the tourism sector 3 days a week while continuing their education, and make their career plans after graduation by adding managerial experiences to the operational experiences gained during their internship periods.
Thanks to this program, our students gain experience in evaluating the theoretical knowledge they have learned at school and the experiences they have gained during their internship periods from the manager's point of view and in decision-making processes. In the work program, where the fresh ideas of our students and the experiences of the managers are blended, our students participate in job interviews and meetings with the managers and are involved in the daily workflow.
6- What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ Program is carried out by the Turkish National Agency in our country. Erasmus+ offers a wide range of opportunities for students and staff, from studying abroad to internships. The Erasmus+ program provides grants for students to study abroad for 3-12 months at another institution and ensures that the credits they receive are accepted at the university where they study. In addition, students have the opportunity to do internship abroad for 2-12 months.
