İsmail Yüksek, born in Caykara Marasli Village, Trabzon in 1963, completed Marasli Village Primary School in 1974, Beykoz Ziya Unsal Middle School in 1977 and Pasabahce Ferit Inal High School in 1980. After graduating from Yildiz Teknik University in 1984, İsmail Yüksek got his master’s degree in 1987 and PhD in 1955 from the same university. İsmail Yüksek worked as a research assistant between 1986 and 1994, as a lecturer between 1995 and 1996, as an assistant professor between 1996 and 1999 and as an associate professor between 1999 and 2005 in Yildiz Teknik University and continued working as a Professor Doctor in the same university between 2005 to 2016. Ismail Yuksek, who completed his military duty as a supervising engineering in the Department of Construction and Real Estate in the Ministry of Defense, acted as a Consultant for Istanbul Chamber of Industry in 1999 and as the Vice President of the Chamber of Turkish Engineers between 1999 and 2006.
İsmail Yüksek’s administrative duties include being the Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering (2007), Head of the Department of Machine Theory System Dynamics and Control (2006-2007), Member of the Faculty Board (2007), Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (2003-2005), Vice Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003-2004), Member of the Executive Board of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (2004-2006), Member of the Board of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (2004-2006), Consultant to KOSGEB (2004-2008), Member of the Field Committee of TUBITAK-MAKITEG (2008-2010) and Referee of TUBITAK-MAKITEG (2005-2008). İsmail Yüksek acted as a Member of the Science Committee of TUBITAK between September 12, 2011, and September 12, 2014, and as a Member of the Executive Board of TUBITAK MAM between 2013 and 2016. İsmail Yüksek, who participated in a research project on vehicle vibrations at the Polytechnic University of Milano with a scholarship granted by the Italian Government in 1994-1995, carried out post-doctorate studies in the JST Mechanical Engineering Laboratory with a scholarship provided by the Japanese Ministry of Industry in 1999-2000. Ismail YÜksek teaches undergraduate courses of Machine Dynamics I, Machine Dynamics II, Automatic Control, Computer-Aided Drawing and Basic Computer Technologies and Usage and master courses of Vibration Isolation, System Dynamics and Control and Active Control of Vehicle Vibrations, and he has numerous national and international publications. Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek acted as the Rector of Yildiz Teknik University between August 2008 and 2016. Upon the end of his rectorate period, he was assigned as a consultant to the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, Faruk Özlu. On December 22, 2016, Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek was assigned as the Rector of Antalya Bilim University by the President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
İsmail Yüksek is married with three children and speaks English.
