Antalya Bilim University's Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design hosted an inspiring design talk on December 10, 2024. Moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shirin IZADPANAH ERTEKIN, the event featured renowned Interior Architect and founder of Yeşim Kozanlı Architecture & Interior Design, Yeşim KOZANLI, who delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled “Concept and Narrative in Design: I’m New, but I Belong Here!”
The event garnered significant interest both within the university and across Antalya. It brought together students from Akdeniz University’s Interior Architecture program, members of the Antalya branch of the TMMOB Chamber of Interior Architects, professional interior architects from Antalya, alumni of ABÜ's Interior Architecture program, and current ABÜ students, fostering a valuable environment for discussion and knowledge-sharing on design and interior architecture.
During her talk, Yeşim KOZANLI highlighted the importance of crafting a narrative and concept in design. Referring to the saying, “Every great design tells a story, because people remember stories, not objects,” she illustrated this approach with examples from her own projects. She also delved into how various social, economic, cultural, and physical contexts influence design decisions.
Participants gained deeper insights into the value and impact of interior architecture, the practical applications of its principles, and how spatial solutions align with societal needs. Students especially benefited from learning about the current position of interior architecture in the design world and its future trends.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Interior Architect Yeşim KOZANLI for her enriching perspective and contribution to this meaningful event.
