Design Talk with HAOS Design | 25 December 2023

In our recent design talk, titled "Resilient Sustainable Living Spaces and Housing Solutions," conducted with HAOS Design on December 25, 2023, at 13:00, our Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students gained insights into the design world of HAOS Design. This virtual design talk provided students with an opportunity for dynamic idea exchange with HAOS Design.

Founders of HAOS Design, Interior Architects A. Zülal Çakıcı, and Hamide Göksan, shared their profound knowledge of sustainable and ecological housing design, creating a lively atmosphere that turned the design talk into a source of valuable information and inspiration for students. In addition to interior design, project planning, and implementation, HAOS Design has garnered acclaim for its tiny house designs, implemented globally with a creative, sustainable, minimalist, and systematic approach.

The guest speakers highlighted crucial aspects of materials, frequently emphasizing preferred natural materials such as wood, recycled metal, glass, and energy-efficient roofing materials. They underscored that wood, especially when sourced in line with sustainable forest management principles, stands out as an eco-friendly option. Encouraging the use of recycled materials, they highlighted their role in waste reduction and the preservation of natural resources.

A notable initiative by HAOS Design stands out the development of the tiny house concept following the earthquake that shook Southeastern Turkey, leading to the loss of thousands of lives and leaving many homeless. Recognizing that donated tents and containers would be insufficient for the long-term needs of earthquake survivors, HAOS Design took action. They shared comprehensive details about the development of economically and rapidly manufacturable, steel-framed, fully insulated tiny houses. This initiative, born out of the necessity to address the prolonged needs of earthquake survivors, showcased HAOS Design's commitment to practical and sustainable solutions.

We extend our sincere thanks to the founders of HAOS Design, Interior Architects A. Zülal Çakıcı, and Hamide Göksan, for their contributions to our students' education and their steadfast dedication to sustainable design and humanitarian efforts.
