Antalya Bilim University, Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design 3rd-year students carried out a technical trip to Lara Big Chefs restaurant on Monday, September 22 2025, within the scope of the IAED 3001 Interior Design Studio V course conducted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Enes Can KILIÇ, Asst. Prof. Dr. Başak KARADUMAN, Lecturer Dr. Melda YILDIZ, and Res. Asst. Hakan BAL. Within the scope of the visit, students had the opportunity to examine the physical, functional, and user-oriented characteristics of the existing space on site by conducting a field study for the project they will develop throughout the semester.
During the technical trip, students analyzed fundamental components of interior architecture such as spatial organization, circulation schemes, material usage, lighting solutions, ergonomics, and user experience through a real-life application setting. In addition, they observed how the relationship between brand identity, user profile, and operational requirements in commercial interior design is reflected in design decisions.
These observations carried out in a real project environment supported students’ analytical thinking, problem definition, and ability to develop design decisions based on data. Through the field study, students gained practical experience in taking measurements, documentation, spatial analysis, and integrating collected data into the design process.
The technical trip also contributed to the development of students’ ability to evaluate professional ethics, user safety, accessibility, sustainability, and contemporary design approaches together. The analyses conducted with an interdisciplinary perspective enabled students to develop feasible, applicable, and user-centered design solutions suitable for real-world conditions.
The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Antalya Bilim University continues to prepare its students for professional practice by supporting studio education with field experience and strengthening the connection between academia and the industry.
