Interior Space Thermal Comfort Seminar Held at Antalya Bilim University
A seminar on Interior Space Thermal Comfort was organized by Arş. Gör. Dr. Ali Berkay AVCI, a faculty member of the Department of Building Science, Architecture Faculty at Süleyman Demirel University, on March 20, 2025, at the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department of Antalya Bilim University.
Moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaren ŞEKERCİ and Lec. Gamze AKYOL, the event focused on modern methods and technologies used to ensure thermal comfort in interior space design. Res. Asst. Dr. Ali Berkay AVCI thoroughly explained how HVAC systems can be used effectively in interior spaces and their impact on users' temperature and humidity perceptions. Valuable insights were shared with students on the engineering solutions that can be implemented to optimize thermal comfort in the design process, as well as the energy efficiency strategies that can be applied. Additionally, an in-depth discussion was held on the psychological dimension of thermal comfort, emphasizing how this factor can be integrated into interior space design.
Students learned how the level of comfort provided by interior spaces should be considered in the design process and gained practical knowledge on how HVAC systems can be harmonized with both functionality and aesthetics in interior spaces. The event not only provided theoretical knowledge but also demonstrated how to manage the challenges and opportunities in interior space design through real-life examples. This valuable sharing will enable interior architecture students to participate in future projects in a more informed and equipped manner. The seminar, as an interactive event, was well-received and highlighted innovative and contemporary approaches in the field of interior architecture.
In this regard, we express our sincere gratitude to Res. Asst. Dr. Ali Berkay AVCI for his contributions and valuable insights.
