Sample Wall Construction
On April 22, 2025, the Material Workshop organized by the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department of Antalya Bilim University provided a unique learning experience for students. Held as part of the IAED 1502 Material and Construction Technologies in Interior Space I course, this event was led by Lec. Kadir Emre BAKIR, Lec. Dr. Arzu ÇAKMAK, and Lec. Canan BEDUR. The workshop provided valuable insights into material knowledge and applications within the field of interior architecture.
In collaboration with Ytong, the participants had the opportunity to explore how autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) is used in interior spaces. The workshop delved into the functional role this material plays in architectural design. Students not only gained information about the physical properties of the material but also engaged in hands-on practice, building walls with AAC blocks and experiencing the material’s application in interior design firsthand.
The environmentally friendly features of Ytong’s AAC were also emphasized during the workshop. Throughout the event, students combined theoretical knowledge with practical experience, enhancing their understanding of the importance of material knowledge in interior architecture. The practical exercises, guided by experts, helped students develop a broad range of skills, from material selection to proper application techniques. By directly engaging in the wall construction process with AAC, students learned how the material is used in practice. This hands-on application provided them with an important opportunity to develop user-friendly projects that combine both aesthetics and functionality in interior design.
With the support of Ytong, this event significantly contributed to interior architecture education and highlighted the importance of material knowledge in interior design.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ytong for their valuable contribution to this meaningful workshop and for providing our students with this invaluable learning experience.
